"A healthy heart makes a sweet beat..."

Welcome to the Sweet Beat Café, a health café focusing on making plantbased cuisine more accessible through delicious raw foods, hot dishes, superfood salads, energising smoothies and tasty treats.

Co-founder Carolanne Rushe previously ran the Green Warrior market stall at the Strandhill People’s Market along Strandhill Beach Front here in Sligo. There, she cultivated a loyal following of her vegan salads, fresh nut milks, and raw treats; the market was the perfect platform to test products on the local market and see if there was demand.

Following a busy summer season at the market, and when a retail premises became available at the start of 2015, Carolanne jumped at the opportunity to develop an idea for a café. Trained at Ballymaloe Cookery School in 2013, Carolanne spent the previous six years travelling the globe; living in Perth, Johannesburg, Qatar and Italy. She blogged her way around the globe over on CarolannesKitchen.com, documenting and sharing recipes and flavours as she discovered them along her travels.

Today, Sweet Beat Café offers a fresh menu of plantbased dishes, alongside delicious speciality coffee.  Our café blends plantbased food with an exciting menu of freshly made drinks such as the Rocket Cow or Turmeric Smoothies. We are also thrilled to be the first café in Sligo offering 3FE coffee on our menu, and even after a few weeks, it’s great to say we have regulars already! Simon Hunt is our chief barista and playlister, so we’ve always got great music playing in the background.

Our menu includes 2/3 specials like falafel, veggie bean burgers, risotto, and linguine, as well as Carolanne's signature Super Salads featuring a mix of three salads, and our belly warming daily soup. We also have a colourful brunch menu including acaí smoothie bowls, smashed avo on fresh sourdough toast, and homemade beans on toast.

Our Drinks Bar includes a range of house made cold-pressed juices, energising smoothies, fermented drinks like our Rosehip Kombucha and Ginger Bug Kefir and for those feeling a little braver, we offer wheatgrass and ginger shots which are a great kick-start to the day.

Located in the centre of Sligo town, and along the Garavogue River, a visit to Sweet Beat Café is a must for anyone visiting Sligo this summer!
